CWAA: Can We All Agree™ – 12/2/17 edition

December 2, 2017

Can we all agree, after a year of trying to stop the investigation into Russian influence in our election, we now know why the President was so worried?

Can we all agree, Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation has now reached the White House’s inner circle?

Some Sounds of Silence for your enjoyment

Can we all agree, if the President’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner, is indicted, can there be any doubt that The President knew what was going on?

Can we all agree, Michael Flynn’s guilty plea to a single charge, suggests he has a lot to offer Mr. Mueller?

Can we all agree, the Senate tax bill that passed last night, may be a hollow victory and the public really does not care?

Can we all agree, there will be winners and losers, but the long term implications are unknown, even to the GOP?

Can we all agree, passing major legislation which includes handwritten notes in the margin is no way to run a government? We’ve been arguing over commas in the Constitution for over 200 years.

The actual tax bill passed in the Senate. (NYT photo)

Can we all agree, the public will be more concerned when the government shuts down, as the President apparently wants?

Can we all agree, Kate Steinle’s family may be paying the price for Donald Trump’s decision to make her death at the hands of an illegal immigrant, a campaign issue?

Can we all agree, it’s a bit incredulous that the Charlottesville police did not expect any violence at a white supremicist rally in their city?

Can we all agree, it’s pretty clear blue states, like California, are not going to get much help from the White House when disasters strike?

Can we all agree, taxpayers should not be footing the bill for sexual harassment settlements by members of Congress?

Can we all agree, if the GOP thinks tax cuts for the wealthy, combined with cuts to entitlement programs such are Medicare and Social Security, will win them an election, they are delusional?

Can we all agree, if Sen. Al Franken is forced to resign  the President should too?

Can we all agree, we all wish we had four houses to put up for bail so that we would not have to be confined while awaiting trial?

Can we all agree, with their missile launch this week, North Korea has called Mr. Trump’s bluff?

Can we all agree, any woman can tell you the list of sexual harassers will get longer before the activity ends? Matt Lauer and Russell Simmonds are this weeks’ high profile additions. The jury is still out on Garrison Keillor.

Can we all agree, Mr. Trump does not even understand why the world is troubled when he retweets a false and misleading video from a fringe anti-Muslim group. If I were in England I wouldn’t want him to visit either.

Can we all agree, the answer to the opioid crises is not more DEA agents?

Can we all agree, the White House can deny it all they want but Secretary of State Rex Tillerson is effectively a dead man walking?

Can we all agree, between his lies and altered reality the President has a very tenuous grasp of the job he is supposed to be doing?

Can we all agree, no one is surprised a Trump appointee ruled in the President’s favor giving him control over the consumer finance board?

Can we all agree, the Russian teams should be banned from the Winter Olympics in February?

Can we all agree, Project Veritas has no place in US politics, even if the Koch brothers are backers?

Can we all agree, The President is so obsessed with Elizabeth Warren, he doesn’t mind insulting military veterans?

Can we all agree, we need the British Royal Family and a wedding, to take our minds off our own government?

Can we all agree, Ivanka Trump seems clueless about the incongruous image of her promoting women’s rights while in India where her goods are made in sweat shops?

and finally:

RIP Jim Nabors

CWAA: Can We All Agree™ – 9/30/17 edition

September 30, 2017

Can we all agree, the resignation of HHS Secretary Tom Price was more about the recent failure of ACA repeal than it was about travel at the taxpayer’s expense? If not, we would have had at least two other cabinet resignations.

Can we all agree, the GOP’s tax proposal officially puts to rest any notion that the Republicans ever cared about deficits or anyone but the top 1% of American who donate to their campaigns?

Can we all agree, news that the US has been, ‘in direct talks’ with North Korea, does nothing to calm anyone’s nerves?

Damage in Puerto Rico from Hurricane Maria (AP Photo/Carlos Giusti)

Can we all agree, the ICE push to target immigrants in so called Sanctuary Cities, is just one more example of the administration’s petty and cynical view of the American legal system?

Can we all agree, the White House’s incoherent and inconsistent foreign policy was on display once again this week as it was forced to disavow its own Israeli ambassador’s comment?

Can we all agree, Sen. Mitch McConnell and the White House couldn’t schedule a tax-plan press conference fast enough after their bid to repeal the ACA went down in flames again? It’s all about capturing the ‘fake-news’ cycle.

Can we all agree, Steve Bannon’s decision to back anti-establishment GOP candidates makes Democratic in-fighting look pretty tame?

Can we all agree, Roy Moore’s victory in Alabama has turned electoral prognostication into a Las Vegas crap shoot?

Can we all agree, a Cambridge, MA librarian has made her point in rejecting a book donation from Melania Trump, but you have to wonder if she would have turned down the same books from say, Senator Elizabeth Warren?

Can we all agree, blaming the mayor of a bankrupt, flood-ravaged island, with no electricity, for your poor response, is a sure way turn off voters?

Can we all agree, the administration’s  response to Hurricane Maria’s damage in Puerto Rico has racism written all over it?

Can we all agree, a California legislator’s proposed bill to ban petroleum powered cars and trucks will probably win approval in the state legislature just because it will infuriate the Trump administration?

Can we all agree, the argument that ICE agents have simply ‘gone rogue’ in attempting to enforce the administration’s immigration policy, is proven out by statistics showing arrests are up but deportations are down?

Can we all agree, Twitter and Facebook both  should be persecuted for their roles in helping the Russians undermine our electoral system?

Can we all agree, Equifax CEO Richard Smith deserved to lose his job, not because the company’s computers were hacked, but because of his firm’s response?

Can we all agree, by picking a fight with the NFL, Mr. Trump has alienated, a group of people who were his strongest supporters?

Can we all agree, Mr Trump’s outrageous disregard for any legal restrictions makes his aides use of a private email server seem inconsequential – although it cost Hillary Clinton the presidency?

Can we all agree, Target Department Stores deserves some credit for raising wages, but they are really just responding to market forces and trying to find employees?

Can we all agree, Milo Yiannopoulos should be sent a bill for the $800,000 it cost the University of California to prepare for his 15-minute speech on the campus?

Can we all agree, Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin proved this week that when it comes to  politics, he should stick to budgets and taxes?

Can we all agree it’s been a while since we heard a cabinet secretary threaten his own staff for being disloyal?

Can we all agree, we all breathed a sigh of relief that Angela Merkel won a fourth term and hope that the rise of the far -right party was just a one-time protest vote?

Can we all agree, there is very little chance that any NBA championship team will be visiting the White House in the next four years?

Can we all agree a few folks will be fired in the NCAA, but nothing will change in the world of big-time college basketball despite the latest DOJ indictments?

Can we all agree, Mr. Trump should be saluted for drawing attention to the cause of former NFL quarterback Colin Kapernick?

Can we all agree, even the Supreme Court seems a bit confused about how to handle the latest travel ban?

Can we all agree, very few Baby Boomers, particularly men, will forget Hugh Hefner any time soon? And no, it wasn’t because of the articles.

Can we all agree, Jared Kushner seems to have faded from public view except when he does something really stupid?

Can we all agree, many of us are desperate for news about the Obama family because it helps us remember how nice it was to have a human being in the White House?

Can we all agree, the issues that have plagued embassy employees in Cuba, sound like a cartoon episode of “Spy Versus Spy’ from Mad Magazine? Unfortunately they are all too real.

Can we all agree, Julia Louis Dreyfus deserves kudos for using her tragic diagnosis to promote universal health care?

Can we all agree the Kurdish independence vote this week will spark years of fighting but is the first step toward a Kurdish homeland?

Can we all agree, it probably won’t be long before we hear the first joke about female drivers in Saudi Arabia?

Can we all agree the Department of Justice is nothing more than another political swamp since the current administration took over?

and finally:

Warrior’s coach Steve Kerr gets the last word on Mr. Trump’s criticism of his team’s decision not to visit the White House.

Tell us what you really think of the Trump Administration

July 29, 2017

Can we all agree, John McCain saved the Republican party from itself, when he cast the deciding vote against the so called ‘skinny repeal’ of the Affordable Care Act?

Can we all agree, Senator McCain clearly never forgave the President for the slights he was forced to endure during the 2016 campaign and seemed to relish his role?

Can we all agree it was McCain who got the pivotal vote, but it was Senators Susan Collins and Lisa Murkowski who took most of the heat?

Senators McCain, Collins and Murkowski: This week's heroes

Senators McCain, Collins and Murkowski: This week’s healthcare heroes.

Can we all agree, Mr. Trump erred badly when he tried to bully Senator  Murkowski into supporting the measure?

Can we all agree, GOP lawmakers who turned to sexist rhetoric in an attempt to pressure the female senators were an embarrassment?

Can we all agree, someone in the GOP has to  grow up and make a concerted effort to ensure the existing health insurance system will continue to work?

Can we all agree, it was heartening to some degree to see the GOP stand up to the President this week by defending the attorney general, passing tougher Russian sanctions and rejecting calls to ban transgender Americans in the military ?

Can we all agree the White House didn’t have much choice but to sign the sanctions bill?

Can we all agree, Russia’s retaliation for the increased sanctions has been relatively mild so far?

Can we all agree, Reince Priebus, has been a dead man walking since he took the job as White House chief of staff?

Can we all agree, when the nation’s chief executive jokingly condones police violence of any type, he displays a profound disregard for civil rights and insults the majority of the nation’s law enforcement officers who observe professional standards?

Can we all agree, Anthony Scaramucci has no business running a communications team if he can’t even communicate without being vulgar?

Can we all agree, the White House announced policies on gay rights, is simply out of touch with the attitudes of most Americans?

Can we all agree, House passage of a budget bill that has no chance of winning Senate approval shows that Speaker Paul Ryan has no ability to deal with conservative ideologues in his caucus?

Can we all agree, North Korea’s test of a missile that could reach Denver, Colorado should make it clear that they are the number one threat to our country?

Can we all agree, the removal of the Pakistani Prime Minister by that nation’s highest court would normally leave us shaking our collective heads in disbelief, but these days we just wonder if the US is next?

Can we all agree, the Boy Scouts really had no control over what the President would say at their annual event, but at least they realized an apology was necessary?

Can we all agree, the Vice President’s voter fraud commission has no idea how to conduct a legitimate study of the alleged problem?

Can we all agree, the fact that Secretary of State Rex Tlllerson was forced to deny rumors that he wanted to quit, suggests he may be on his way out?

Can we all agree, now that both Britain and France have passed laws banning vehicles with internal combustion engines, we may have reached a tipping point?DF31rp1XkAA8Ala.jpg-large

Can we all agree, normally when a TV commentator has a private dinner at the White House, it would damage his credibility, but with Sean Hannity, no one even blinked an eye?

Can we all agree, allowing your employer to place a chip in your body for identification purposes sends chills down the spine of many people?

Can we all agree, translating Foxconn’s employment practices in China to the US could be difficult?

Can we all agree, the results of a study of deceased football player’s brains should make parents think twice before allowing their children to play football?

Can we all agree, it’s hard to believe that the only person the Department of Justice could find to run their criminal division was someone with ties to a Russian bank?

Can we all agree, the Democrats new image message was less than inspiring?

Can we all agree, the Polish President’s veto of legislation taking over that nation’s courts, avoided a European crises?

Can we all agree, Jared Kushner’s private testimony before a Senate panel, suggests he’s either stupid or involved in issues way over his head?

Can we all agree, another silver lining to California’s wet winter is a new gold rush?

Can we all agree, the new TSA rules for screening electronics are going to make security lines even longer?

Can we all agree, Kansas Governor Sam Brownback, who is taking a job as a religious ambassador, is a poster child for the dangers of refusing to compromise in politics?

and finally:

RIP:

June Foray–the voice of our youth from “Rocky and Bullwinkle” to “Dudley Do-Right,” “Bugs Bunny” and “The Flintstones.”

July 22, 2017

Can we all agree, promising Presidential pardons before charges are filed, only serves to convince people that Mr. Trump knows that he, his relatives and their associates have committed crimes?

Can we all agree, the same could be said for reports from his legal team, that their legal case will be built on trying to undermine Robert Mueller’s credibility?

Can we all agree, someone in a position of power really wants to get rid of Attorney General Jeff Sessions – unless you think reports from secret intelligence cables are available freely from Washington newsstands?

A detailed look at the President's threat to fire Special Counsel Robert Mueller (Washington Post)

A detailed look at the President’s threat to fire Special Counsel Robert Mueller (Washington Post)

Can we all agree, it is unconscionable that a week after an Australian woman who called 911, was shot to death by police we still have no information on how the tragedy happened.

Can we all agree, Sean Spicer’s resignation is not the last high-level change coming at the White House?

Can we all agree, we will miss Melissa McCarthy’s Spicer impersonations on SNL?

Can we all agree, the real impact of Mr. Trump’s visit to Poland was his unofficial encouragement to the right-wing government?

Can we all agree, it’s hard to believe the secret life of the former head of the USC medical school, was unknown to the school’s administration?

Can we all agree, no one seems to know what will happen next week when the Senate votes on an unknown healthcare plan?

Can we all agree, the President fails to understand that no one – ‘not even congressional pages’ – are afraid of his threats?

Can we all agree, the real question for the GOP is will they let the healthcare markets collapse and risk taking heat from voters who would lose their insurance coverage?

Can we all agree, the Senate’s attempt to repeal the ACA got harder yesterday when their parliamentarian ruled against several key provisions on the bill?

Can we all agree, the record low ratings for Mr. Trump, may have something to do with his inability to get congress to bend to his will?

Can we all agree, Jared Kushner might as well resign now since he has lost all credibility with both his boss and the American people?

Can we all agree, it’s probably not conducive to good government when two federal agencies sue each other?

Can we all agree, it’s not surprising that former Trump campaign chief owed money to Russian banks, since many Americans believe Mr. Trump’s taxes will show that he owed even more?

Can we all agree, the high level voter-fraud panel, investigating non-existant voter fraud, is grasping at straws as it seeks more personal data on Americans, so the panel can make it harder to vote?

Can we all agree, even those who disagreed with Senator John McCain, were saddened by news that he has a brain tumor? At times he seemed to be one of the few sane voices in the Senate.

Can we all agree, in hindsight, it was pretty clear that the Supreme Court, with an average age of 68, would come down on the side of grandparents being excluded from the administration’s Muslim travel ban?

Can we all agree, it really doesn’t matter how many meetings Mr. Putin and Mr. Trump have had recently, their bromance has been going on for years?

Can we all agree, the Putin-Trump relationship has tainted virtually any decision that might have an impact on Russia?

Can we all agree, the big news of the week was the firing of the long-time voice of Kermit the frog?

Can we all agree, the public barely noticed when the administration turned its back on two more campaign promises this week, certifying Iranian compliance with the nuclear agreement and bringing terrorists to the US to face charges?

Can we all agree, each week seems to bring new and novel ways for the administration’s cabinet secretaries to deny climate change and global warming?

Can we all agree, the reaction to O.J. Simpson’s parole, suggests the country just doesn’t care about a crime committed over 20 years ago?

Can we all agree, the White House ‘Made in America’ campaign this week  underscored the fact that the President and his daughter have their signature products made out of the country?

Can we all agree, it’s tough to feel any sympathy for Ann Coulter in her battle with Delta Airlines?

and:

The only good news this week was a story about Israeli soldiers providing assistance to Syrian refugees. There must be other better news, but it was tough to find.

Can we all agree Donald Trump abandoned the Paris Climate Change Agreement when he appointed Scott Pruitt to head the EPA?

Can we all agree Vladimir Putin essentially admitted this week that Russians interfered in the US election?

Can we all agree the French President had a great comeback to Donald Trump?

The NY Daily News gets it right, again.

The NY Daily News gets it right, again.

Can we all agree, it’s clear Mr. Trump has no factual basis for his decision?

Can we all agree the countries, states and cities who know climate change is already here have just two words for Mr. Trump: Drop dead?

Can we all agree, Mr. Trump doesn’t seem to realize his base, which seems happy with climate change, only makes up about 30% of the electorate?

Can we all agree, it doesn’t really matter whether Mr. Trump believes in climate science? But it would be nice to know.

Can we all agree, it’s pretty clear,  Mr. Trump’s policies change depending on who he favors? This week it’s Steve Bannon, and not Jared Kushner.

Can we all agree if Joe Biden, at 76, decides to run in 2020, Trump (or Pence) is toast?

Can we all agree China is more than happy to see the United States make itself irrelevant and allow them to become the world leader in yet another category?

Can we all agree we seem to have hit full employment but it does;’t mean much for all the coal miners who still can’t find work?

Can we all agree it’s becoming clearer by the day that the Senate will not pass a healthcare bill any time soon?

Can we all agree if the spouse of a current employee won’t work for you, you might be the toxic workplace?

Can we all agree the GOP seems intent on hiding their own report on CIA torture?

Can we all agree it’s already pretty clear why the White House didn’t want to release their ethics waivers: the forms are a mess?

Can we all agree the term ‘ethics waivers’ seems pretty absurd for a White House with no ethics from day one?

Can we all agree someone needs to tell Devin Nunes, head of the House Intelligence Committee, that no one cares about any subpoenas he issues, because he has no credibility left?

Can we all agree the world may be distracted this week by climate change, and c0vfefe, but by next week, the probe of Russian interference in the US election will be back to center stage, despite Mr. Trump’s continuing claims that it’s all a hoax?

Can we all agree there was some good news on the environment this week when a California court ruled the state could force Monsanto to label products as carcinogens and Exxon-Mobil stockholders forced the energy giant to report on the impact they are having on climate change?

Can we all agree Ohio’s suit against the makers of opioids will have little impact unless others join in?

Can we all agree Mr. Trump doesn’t seem to realize how bad it looks when he tries to curry favor with the Russians by returning two compounds that were seized as punishment just six months ago?

Can we all agree if the government tries to roll back Mr. Obama’s Cuba policy he will be swimming against a very strong tide?

Can we all agree it takes a pretty small person to steal the belongings of a  dying man who tried to defend two women against the verbal abuse of a white supremicist?

Can we all agree the government faces an uphill battle trying to convince the Supreme Court that they are likely to win their case for the Mr. Trump’s immigration ban?

Can we all agree comedian Kathy Griffin gave Mr. Trump a huuuuuge present this week, by posing with a mask that appeared to be his severed head?

Can we all agree Congress has done a great job of hiding that fact that they have made a mockery of internet privacy?

Can we all agree the next financial showdown over the debt ceiling will  get here sooner than most politicians expected or wanted?

Can we all agree, say what you will about Texas legislators, they sure know how to embarrass themselves?

Can we all agree French President Emmanuel Macron is quickly becoming a force to be reckoned with on the world stage? Just ask Mr. Putin.

Can we all agree the only person who had a successful trip to the Middle East and Europe was Melania Trump? Yes, she of the $51,000 jacket.

Can we all agree the military’s successful test of an anti-missile system does not make me, or anyone else in the Bay Area,  feel any safer?

And finally:

CWAA: Can We All Agree™ – 4/8/17 edition

April 8, 2017

Can we all agree, now that Donald Trump has launched himself into the middle of the Syrian civil war, the real test will be his long term strategy?

Can we all agree, like so many other campaign slogans, ‘America First’ seems to have fallen by the wayside?

Can we all agree the Republicans wasted no time leaving Washington to avoid a debate on the legality of Mr. Trump’s actions?

Can we all agree Russia’s rather muted reaction suggests they at least gave tacit approval to Mr. Trump?

First Lady Malania Trump's official portrait has caused a bit of a stir.

First Lady Malania Trump’s official portrait has caused a bit of a stir.

Can we all agree Mr. Trump’s timing made sure no one was paying attention to the Senate’s approval of Neil Gorsuch as a Supreme Court Justice or Mr. Trump’s summit with the Chinese President?

Can we all agree, unless Mr. Trump can end the infighting among his White House staff, he has little chance of scoring any more domestic victories?

Can we all agree, we may have no choice but to believe Ivanka Trump when she asks us to ‘trust her’ to keep her father in check?

Can we all agree Mr. Trump seems to have convinced his supporters that nepotism and corruption are just what the country needs to advance his agenda? Luckily the rest of the nation doesn’t seem to be buying it.

Can we all agree someone needs to explain to Mr. Trump some basic facts about how his own government collects statistics?

Can we all agree he will need a unified team if the economy continues to lose steam as the most recent jobs report suggests?

Can we all agree, now that the GOP health care plan remains stalled, many supporters are wondering if he can pass an infrastructure bill?

Can we all agree Senate Majority leader Mitch McConnell does not care about governing, just about winning?

Can we all agree when GOP lawmakers hear about their new healthcare plan to eliminate coverage for pre-existing conditions last month’s town hall protests will seem tame?

Can we all agree, speaking of road work, the California legislature gave  Governor Jerry Brown a nice birthday present passing a $52 billion tax package to fix the states roads and bridges? It appears they think no one will notice when the gasoline tax jumps 12 cents per gallon.

Can we all agree Gov. Brown was stating the obvious when he declared the state’s drought over?

Can we all agree the spectacular pace of news has also overshadowed more of Mr. Trump’s false claims against the Obama administration and more details about when the Russians began their attacks on our political system?

Can we all agree Rep. Devin Nunes has made himself a footnote to the House and Senate probes into the Russian meddling?

Can we all agree AG Jeff Sessions seems to having some problem getting the courts to back up his plan to undo consent decrees with police departments around the country?

Can we all agree Mr. Sessions bears a strong resemblance to former Laugh-In actor Arte Johnson?

Can we all agree the tentacles of the scandal never seems to end? This week even Education Secretary Betsy DeVoss and her brother were  caught in the act.

Can we all agree Mr. Trump’s plan for extreme vetting of visitors to the US, by searching their cell phones and tablets will have a major impact of tourism?

Can we all agree no country can be really protect itself from terror attacks when trucks become weapons?

Can we all agree it’s really hard to believe how tone deaf some marketing folks can be when they create major ad campaigns that have to be scrapped as soon as they are unveiled?

Can we all agree it’s incredible that no matter how many lawsuits Mr. Trump settles, there’s always another one to deal with?

Can we all agree Fox News star Bill O’Reilly has been remarkably restrained as advertisers abandon his sinking ship over reports that the network has paid millions to settle sexual harassment suits  against him?

Can we all agree Mr. Trump’s well publicized gesture to donate his first paycheck to the National Park Service is pretty empty when you consider the $1.5 billion budget cut the Interior Department is facing?

Can we all agree Mr. Trump’s support of Egyptian strongman Abdel Fattah el-Sisi was pretty repulsive, but it’s really no different than the legions of dictators the US has supported in the past, if it served our purpose?

Can we all agree it seems a bit shortsighted for the NHL to skip next year’s Winter Olympics in South Korea and miss an opportunity to introduce the best hockey players in the world to the Far East?

Can we all agree Don Rickles will never be duplicated?

And:

Take a look at the NCAA Trump-quotation brackets and see if you agree with the most remarkable Trump quote…so far.

Finally:

The unbelievable story go a young girl found living with monkeys.

CWAA: Can We All Agree – 1/14/17 edition

January 14, 2017

Can we all agree, it’s hard to believe the GOP is so focused on repealing the Affordable Care Act, that they are willing to disrupt the lives of the 23 million Americans who know it has been a success?

Can we all agree, no matter what you think of the current administration, it’s improper for an incoming administration to conduct diplomacy before they are actually in charge?

Can we all agree it would be nice to believe that Speaker Paul Ryan was was outlining Donald Trump’s immigration policy when he assured an immigrant family they would not be deported?

The new Lady Liberty coin

The new Lady Liberty coin

Can we all agree the Justice Department probe of FBI director James Comey will end as soon as Loretta Lynch leaves office, but that won’t stop the Democrats from giving Mr. Comey a a piece of their mind?

Can we all agree Mr. Trump’s plan to put his sons in charge of his businesses does nothing to allay fears that he will act in their best interests rather than in the best interests of the United States?

Can we all agree appointing his son-in-law to a White House posts just reinforces the view that the family business interests will always be paramount ?

Can we all agree the salacious charges against Mr. Trump may not be verified, but they are pretty easy to believe for many Americans?

Can we all agree the appearance of Mr. Trump’s attorney, who showed up to justify his actions, was among the most cringe-worthy parts of his press conference?

Can we all agree Buzzfeed has taken a lot of criticism for publishing the material, but that’s the altered reality Mr. Trump has created?

Can we all agree the contrast between Mr. Obama’s final speech in Chicago and Mr. Trump’s attempt at a press conference was remarkable?

Can we all agree a large segment of the American public agrees with the government ethics chief, regarding Mr. Trump’s latest plans for his businesses?

Can we all agree the intimidation of the government ethics office will get more serious as  Mr. Trump continues to defy the advice of ethics attorneys on both sides of the political spectrum?

Can we all agree we’re still not sure if Mr. Trump really believes the Russians tried to influence the election?

Can we all agree the new Lady Liberty on the $100 gold coin is sure to spark protests from the racists in this country?

Can we all agree China’s addiction re-education camps sound a lot like the treatment camps some conservatives have proposed for anyone afflicted with the ‘disease’ of being gay?

Can we all agree the Russians have a novel approach to eliminating smoking – make it illegal for anyone who has not already started?

Can we all agree decriminalizing domestic violence, as Vladimir Putin ordered, is not the hallmark of a civilized society?

Can we all agree it’s easier to charge foreigners from Volkswagen or Takata with criminal activity in product liability cases, than it is to hold US companies liable for breaking US laws?

Can we all agree it will take years and require constant monitoring to make sure the Baltimore and Chicago police make progress in eliminating the deeply ingrained practices which have caused so many problems?

Can we all agree Mr. Obama latest new Cuba policy may please that country’s leaders, but will not be popular with citizens who make it to our shores?

Can we all agree we’re not surprised that Fox News secretly settled a sexual harassment claim against Bill O’Reilly – two lawsuits in 12 months might have been more than the network could handle?

Can we all agree Mr. Trump’s handling of the L.L. Bean controversy proves once again, he doesn’t understand the role of the President?

Can we all agree we’re amazed Mr. Trump hasn’t caused another international incident by tweeting about China’s lone aircraft carrier sailing through the Taiwan straight?

Can we all agree Mr. Trump’s biggest problem might be convincing his own cabinet that he knows what he’s doing?

Can we all agree it’s nice to hear about a company planning to create 1o0,000 new jobs, with no mention of government interference?

Can we all agree it’s great that 42% of California is drought free, now we can start worrying about Massachusetts and Europe?

Can we all agree Meryl Streep got all the publicity for her critique of Donald Trump, but Hugh Laurie really got the anti-Trump show started?

Can we all agree Mr. Trump’s response was just embarrassing?

Can we all agree you could have predicted the outcome of a California University event featuring a racist editor and a money hungry drug executive? – Yes, protests ended the session before it even got started.

and finally,

If you don’t believe Joe Biden was surprised to receive the Presidential Medal of Freedom, you should nominate him for a best actor award.
