#CWAA: Can We All Agree™ – 4/7/18 edition

April 7, 2018

Can we all agree, despite verbal support from Mr. Trump, it sure looks like EPA chief Scott Pruitt has made some powerful enemies, who want him fired from his post?

Can we all agree, Facebook can make some changes, but it will never be able to satisfy critics since it’s business plan is based on selling our personal data?

Can we all agree, China has the upper hand in any trade war with the US since they don’t have to worry about elections, public opinion  and a stock market crash?

Can we all agree, the trade war with China will hurt Trump voters the most?

Can we all agree, Sinclair Broadcasting’s insistence that ‘must run’ segments sent to their stations are ‘non-political,’ doesn’t pass the smell test?

Can we all agree, it doesn’t look like the GOP tax cuts will be giving the Republicans much of a boost as long as Mr. Trump’s approval rating remains at record lows?

Can we all agree, even Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker seems worried that a blue wave will sweep the country this November?

Can we all agree, putting the National Guard on the border with Mexico,  just underlines the fact that the immigration service cannot find enough people to patrol the border?

Can we all agree, bringing a loaded gun to a meeting with constituents is just asking for trouble, especially if you are a Congressman?

Can we all agree, it wasn’t a good week for former world leaders: ex-presidents in Brazil and South Korea are facing long jail sentences?

Can we all agree, after reading the terms of his settlements of the sexual harassment complaints, it’s pretty clear former Fox TV host Bill O’Reilly is just a disgusting human being?

Can we all agree, Kentucky taxpayers have every right to be upset that lawmakers hiked taxes on almost 95% of the state’s residents, but gave the richest 5% a tax break?

Can we all agree, Mr. Trump’s head-scratching reversal on Syria, is just one more example of the chaotic state of US foreign policy?

Can we all agree, supporting US businesses used to be the President’s job, but it appears no one told Mr. Trump?

Can we all agree, despite reports to the contrary, no one believes The President isn’t the main focus of Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation?

Can we all agree, imposing quotas on immigration judges, might speed up processing, but it will probably leave justice as roadkill?

Can we all agree, most of us would be pretty happy with an offer of a single college scholarship – getting 20 is pretty remarkable?

Can we all agree, inviting Vladimir Putin to the White House,  while you are being investigated for colluding with the Russians, defies all political logic?

Can we all agree, there will be more teacher walkouts across the country?

and finally:

How the SF Ballet gave one young girl from Puerto Rico a chance to achieve her dreams.

I may not agree with Chris Christie on many things but he summed up my view of Scott Pruitt pretty well when he told ABC News: “I don’t know how you survive this one, and if he has to go, it’s because he never should have been there in the first place.”

CWAA: Can We All Agree – 2/18/17 edition

February 18, 2017

Can we all agree, of all the President’s cabinet members approved approved so far, Mike Pruitt, at the EPA, has the potential to do the most damage to future generations?

Can we all agree many senators may regret their vote after Mr.  Pruitt’s emails as Oklahoma AG are made public?

Can we all agree if Mr. Trump continues his war on the media he will undermine his own credibility? If he has any left.

Can we all agree, speaking of credibility, picking a political ally to ‘review’  intelligence gathering operations will do nothing to stop the leaks that continue to plague the administration?

Can we all agree Mr. Trump’s continued insistence on an alternate reality that no one can see, is symptomatic of his personality disorder?

Can we all agree Mr. Trump may have a valid point in pushing some NATO members to spend more on their own defense?

Can we all agree, despite Mr. Trump’s denials, members of his staff relish the thought of using the National Guard to round up illegal immigrants?

Can we all agree this week’s “Day Without Immigrants’ protest had minimal impact because most immigrants can’t afford a day without pay?

Can we all agree the money that the government will spend just to guard Mr. Trump and his family is simply outrageous?

Can we all agree the offenses of many of the illegal immigrants being rounded up by Trump’s ICE agents, are not the kind of criminals even his supporters thought he was going to target?

Can we all agree White House attempts to ‘insulate’ the President from efforts to expel the so called Dreamers, will fail and he will bear the full brunt of the public’s wrath?

Can we all agree Mr. Trump’s inability to come up with a new immigration order is an admission that the policy is just wrong?

Can we all agree, Russia’s attempts to manipulate European elections, is just an extension of their success here?

Can we all agree, it might be tougher in the EU, since Mr. Putin won’t be able to coordinate his activity with the actual candidate, as they could with Mr. Trump?

Can we all agree ousted national security advisor Michael Flynn’s biggest contribution to the government might be the multiple congressional investigations he has spawned?

Can we all agree the bizarre political assassination of the half brother of the North Korean leader sounds like a plot from the old ‘Spy vs Spy’ cartoon in Mad Magazine? It sounds like even China agrees.

Can we all agree Mr. Trump and the Israeli Prime Minister have outlined a roadmap to nowhere?

Can we all agree the new GOP plan to overhaul the Affordable Care Act doesn’t look it has much chance of winning the approval of most Republicans?

Can we all agree, any plan to send American troops to Syria would be a non-starter to any other American president?

Can we all agree, Ms Conway needs more than counseling?

Can we all agree the site of two world leaders discussing security issues in a public restaurant is really beyond belief? What were they thinking?

Can we all agree it’s interesting to see how Mr. Trump’s opinions on a number of topics seem to have changed in three months?

And finally::

The tragic story of loss for one veteran who had to evacuate his home below the Oroville, CA dam.

October 22, 2016

Can we all agree that even Donald Trump has seen the writing on the wall, and knows he will be defeated on November 8?

Can we all agree, it’s amazing that Mr. Trump’s performance at Wednesday’s debate was not his worst of the week?

Can we all agree, speaking of performances, Melania’s attempt to defend her husband was pretty sad? Steven Colbert’s take was the best of the week.

Can we all agree that yesterday’s internet attack should be a warning to all those who see the internet as the solution to every problem?

Can we all agree Mr. Trump’s charges of voter fraud, which had no supporting evidence, was the logical conclusion to  the GOP’s recent drive to restrict voting across the county?

Can we all agree, Trump may lose the election, but his rise to presidential nominee will be felt long after he has been buried by the Republican Party?

Can we all agree Mr. Trump has, among other things,  made it acceptable  to be openly racist?

Can we all agree that there has to be another solution to the National Guard’s mistake in making bonus payments to members 10 years ago?

Can we all agree the Census Bureau’s plan to create a new category for people of Middle Eastern descent is probably not a good idea because it could be meaningless and result in more discrimination?

Can we all agree the Chinese government’s plan to track all it’s citizens is a little too Orwellian?

Can we all agree it was about time some police organization realized they had a problem dealing with minorities and apologized?

Can we all agree this is the kind of police story we all want to see every week?
